Caribbean PR Agency, via its publication Earth Conscious Magazine, hosts the Trinidad and Tobago National Youth Forum on Climate Change.
The first forum was held on November 05, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency in Port of Spain with the second at Crown Plaza, Port of Spain on August 4th 2012.
The Forum serves as a platform for Trinidadian and Tobagonian Youth to lend their voices to the call for urgent action to mitigate and adapt to Climate Change, the effects of which are now incontrovertible.
The main goals of the Forum are:
• To create awareness among students and youth on issues of Climate Change and Global Warming
• To encourage environmental activities in communities
• To bring together sponsors and youth organisations to make tangible interventions to develop and support actions and programmes
• To build the next generation of leadership in sustainable development and climate change adaptation
The collective intelligence and involvement of all individuals, from citizens, to experts, to children, ought to be involved as Trinidad and Tobago moves forward in implementing Climate Change Mitigation and adaptation measures and promoting sustainable development.
Young people must be prepared to play a key role in these measures as they are the ones who will live to experience the impacts of today’s crucial decisions, and as a result, ought to be considered as key stakeholders in decision making.
